MESSAGE FROM FR. JEFF

Hello everybody!

Happy Derby week! I don’t have a clear favorite this year. Since God is our Stronghold and Just a Touch of his love is like Catching Freedom from sin and death, we have Resilience in this life and will be Forever Young in the next, Endlessly. As we Honor Marie (Mary) in the month of May, may the Fierceness of her intercession lead us to the joys of heaven. I hope you have a winner! As a reminder, there is no 5:00 p.m. mass on May 4 and our school will be off and the Parish Office will close at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 3.

It is good to be home from the 8th grade trip to DC. Our students are amazing young people and, although I’m exhausted, I am also deeply grateful for the experience, connection, and memories with our students. I concelebrated mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and was like a proud dad when Baron McKenzie, one of students, became the first server in history from St. Pats to ever serve at the Basilica. Like that opportunity, my favorite parts of the trip were the many occasions when our students engaged, participated, and were involved in new and unique events. Thanks to them and the other chaperones for an awesome experience!

Finally, a reminder that nominations are still open until Sunday, May 5, for positions on our Pastoral Council and School Board. Please see the links below for online nominations. The response has been great so far and from the many nominations, new members for those councils will be selected on Pentecost, May 19, at the 11:00 a.m. mass. Please pray for all who have offered to serve.

May you continue to experience the joy of the Easter season and be renewed in body, mind, and spirit!

Peace,

Fr. Jeff

Staff Spotlight

Cathy Giangarra, Director of Technology

What is something people do not know about you?

I sailed the Sea of Galilee and floated on the Dead Sea. I was fortunate to take a pilgrimage to the Holy Lands a few years ago. Seeing where God became Man, sailing where he calmed the winds and tamed the storm, walking where Jesus walked, and touching the burial shelf where he was laid was life-changing.

What is your favorite scripture or prayer and why?

"Do whatever He tells you."

John Chapter 2 The Wedding Feast at Cana. "...the mother of Jesus says to him, they have no wine. Jesus replies, woman how does your concern affect me? My hour has not yet come."

In my heart I hear Jesus saying Mom, are you sure because once I start down this road there is no going back. I strive to have an obedient, trusting heart to do whatever he tells me and isn't it wonderful that we are all invited to the Wedding Feast at Cana where the wine will never run out!

What do you love most about your ministry/serving at St. Patrick?

I am so grateful to have the opportunity to work with the talented teachers and amazing staff at St. Patrick. The challenges and demands of each workday ensure that no two days are ever the same. Being able to help problem-solve and calm the frantic student or staff member when something technological goes array, is what I love most about being Director of Technology for St. Patrick.

2024-25 Stewardship Renewal

Thanks to those who have responded to our requested deadline of April 15 for stewardship commitments that begin on July 1, 2024. As stewards, we are called to share our gifts and it takes the financial support and volunteerism from everyone in our parish and school for us to continue to thrive and fulfill our mission as a beacon of Christ's love. We are still accepting stewardship forms, so please take some time to discern your gifts and respond accordingly. Take advantage of our online renewal HERE or return your hard copy to the offertory collection, parish office or mail. Questions? Contact Lynne Marshall at (502)244-6083.

Pastoral Council & School Board Nominations

Now is the time to nominate yourself or someone you know to serve on our Pastoral Council and School Board.

The Pastoral Council is the advisory Board to the pastor. Members advise the pastor in planning for the pastoral development of the parish and should have deep faith, imagination, broad experience and sound judgement. Members serve a three-year term and meet once a month, with the exception of December, June and July.

The School Board serves in an advisory role to assist the Pastor and Principal on matters relating to school policies. Members serve a three year term and meet seven times throughout the year. Members should be committed to the success of Catholic education and be able to work with others in achieving consensus for the good of the entire school community.
